Dogs for Deaf, Inc., rescues dogs from shelters and trains them to respond to sounds such as smoke alarms, door bells, alarm clocks, baby cries, telephones, etc. alerting deaf or hard-of-hearing persons to the sound. The dogs also are obedience-trained and socialized. They are then placed any where in the country following an application process. A magazine, fact sheets, and online publication are available. Dogs can also be trained to assist children with autism and professionals dealing with special needs clients.

No charge for services.

Provides service and companion dogs to people who have mobility difficulties, type I diabetes, epilepsy, and other medical needs. Provides a Disabilities Awareness Education Program and K-9 Kids Reading Program for school-age children as well as Animal Assisted Therapy services.

A nonprofit helping children who face social, emotional or educational challenges with the help of animal assisted therapy, school visits and assistance dog placements. Serves children whose challenges range from autism to serious medical conditions to grief over the loss of a parent.

We train and place monkey helpers to provide daily, in-home assistance to people living with spinal cord injuries or other mobility impairments. We carefully match monkeys and recipients, and actively support their partnership through mentoring and ongoing supervision of the monkey’s behavioral, nutritional, and veterinary needs. Thanks to the support of our donors, we provide these services free of charge to our recipients across the nation.

Children and adults with special needs

Raises and trains dogs to assist children and adults with special needs. Provides pups free of charge to qualified special needs persons and donates to other nonprofit service dog schools.

It costs over $38,000 to train and place a Service Dog. Involvement in fundraising is voluntary. No out-of-pocket costs for recipients. 

Custom trained service dogs encouraging and empowering those with special needs.

Partners with foundations to provide extra funding for individuals with special needs: Epilepsy (Chelsea Hutchison Foundation), Multiple Sclerosis (MSsociety.org), Diabetes, and ADUC-Assistance Dog United Campaign.

Application required - wait time to receive a service dog can take up to 2 years.

Place dogs in all 50 states and Canada.

Provides individuals and families that are challenged by diabetes with service dogs.  Diabetic Alert Dogs are trained to alert diabetic handlers in advance of low (hypoglycemia) or high (hyperglycemia) blood sugar events before they become dangerous.

 An on-line inquiry form must be completed.

Helps disabled children and adults achieve greater safety and independence through partnership with a highly trained service dog. No charge to the recipient for a service dog, other than a small application fee.

Child under the age of 18 years at time of placement with their service dog. Must have a physical disability, psychological disability, or on the autism spectrum; be enrolled in a qualified training program prior to applying and complete an application.

Provides service dog scholarships for children with special health care needs. 

Application, background check, and interview process. Wait times is 3-4 years.  No fee for trained dogs.

Provides full public access service dogs for the following:

• Individuals with mobility challenges from muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, stroke, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries and other issues
• Veterans and active-duty military to mitigate service-related physical injuries, as well as post-traumatic stress (PTS) and/or traumatic brain injury
• Children and teens between the ages of 5 and 18 on the autism spectrum or with other neurocognitive disabilities

Satellite offices are currently located in California, Washington State, Arizona, and New Hampshire.

Individuals with physical or developmental disabilities who can demonstrate that a service dog will enhance independence or quality of life. Applicants applying for a service dog must be at least 18 years old. Applicants applying for a skilled companion dog must be at least 5 years old.

Canine Companions for Independence is a nonprofit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships. Training facility locations throughout the US.

• Provide information and education to the general public and allied professionals about Guide Dogs for the Blind's mission and services
• Provide information to those who might have need of our services
  Assist those who wish to apply for a guide dog
• Solicit volunteers to support GDB programs, including puppy raisers
• Solicit contributions to support our programs and services.

All services provided free of charge, including personalized training and extensive post-graduation support, but plus financial assistance for veterinary care, if needed.
