The Division of Health is organized to direct and provide a variety of public health services to the citizens of Idaho in cooperation with local and federal agencies.

Injury Prevention & Surveillance Program - 208-334-7328

Offers prevention information on several causes of injury including; poisoning, drowning, falls, motor vehicle crashes and bicycle and pedestrian safety.

Provides an integrative medical practice.

Online Resource: The Idaho Diabetes Resource Guide is an online database that has been compiled to help people with diabetes in Idaho identify health care services in their area and create awareness about diabetes resources outside of the clinical setting, such as diabetes education programs, community programs, and support groups. In addition, knowledge of where the gaps in care and information exist will enable the diabetes health system to identify and implement solutions to improve access to care for more Idahoans.

*Idaho Physical Activity & Nutrition Program
The Idaho Physical Activity & Nutrition Program coordinates with child care providers and worksites to promote healthy nutrition standards and physical activity guidelines.

*Fit and Fall Proof™ Program
Fit and Fall Proof™ Program is a group physical activity program designed for older adults who want to improve their health and reduce their risk of falling. The program provides volunteer-led exercise classes to improve balance by increasing flexibility, strength, and endurance.

*Oral Health Program
The Oral Health Program is a population-based program to promote oral health and prevent dental disease. Local oral health programs are conducted through contracts with the state's seven district health departments.

*Tobacco Prevention, Control and Cessation Program
The Tobacco Prevention and Control Program seeks to prevent tobacco use among youth, encourage tobacco users to quit, and create environments that protect nonsmokers from secondhand smoke. The Idaho Tobacco Millennium Funds allow the local public health departments to coordinate free tobacco cessation classes for pregnant women, youth, and adults.

*Comprehensive Cancer Control Program
The Comprehensive Cancer Control Program seeks to lessen the burden of cancer by educating the public about ways to prevent cancer and how to detect it early through regular screening.

*Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program
The Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program works with schools to teach their students about how to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.

This program provides a comprehensive pregnancy prevention for high school students.

The Diabetes Control Program coordinates with Idaho health system efforts to reduce diabetes and its complications through public and professional education and awareness programs and promote standards of diabetes care. *Injury Prevention Program
The Injury Prevention Program provides exercise information to seniors over 65 to increase flexibility, strength, balance, and endurance.

*Oral Health Program
The Oral Health Program, funded by the Maternal and Child Health Title V Block Grant, is a population-based program to promote oral health and prevent dental disease. Local oral health programs are conducted through contracts with the state's seven district health departments to conduct school-based fluoride mouth rinse programs.

*Tobacco Prevention, Control and Cessation Program
The Tobacco Prevention and Control Program addresses smoking and spit tobacco prevention, as well as environmental (secondhand) tobacco smoke clean indoor air through education and advocacy targeted toward influencing behavioral, environmental and policy changes. The Idaho Tobacco Millenium Funds allow the local public health departments to coordinate free tobacco cessation classes for pregnant women, youth, and adults.

Comprehensive health care facility. Provide medical, dental, counseling services and outreach health services.

All services- open to any resident in a four county area of North Idaho (Latah, Kootenai, Benewah, and Shoshone counties) and Eastern WA at or below 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines. Services provided on a sliding fee scale.*

Breast Cancer: Provides public, community and individual education on breast and cervical cancer. Mammograms referred out to Coeur d'Alene.

The Benewah Medical Clinic has nurses that visit patients with diabetes, and educates them on diabetes and blood glucose monitoring. The clinic also has a glucometer program that provides glucometer training and education on what blood sugar means. People with diabetes are also educated on foot and eye care. They also have access to documents in Braille and large print documents.

Parenting classes which include the Positive Parenting model and Parenting as Prevention model. Class structure provides informal parent support group. On site child care provided.
