The purpose of Indigent Services is to provide limited and temporary assistance to Shoshone County residents for the payment of some non-medical and medical expenses.  Assistance from Shoshone County is required to be “as a last resort” only, or when no alternative exists. All counties in Idaho, including Shoshone County, will require repayment of any taxpayer funds used to assist a county resident under these laws.

Before assistance can be provided, however, certain requirements will have to be met and the applicant must present him/herself for an interview and must be prepared to provide personal information regarding the applicant’s living situation, income, assets of all types, insurance, resources, and much more.  Once this information has been gathered, a Service Worker will conduct a thorough investigation to substantiate the data and then make a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners for approval or denial.

Idaho law provides that an automatic lien is created on all real and personal property of those who file an application for county medical assistance under these laws.

There is no fee to file an application for assistance.

Those with unplanned pregnancies, or struggling with post abortion issues.

Confidential assistance for men and women facing unplanned pregnancies or those dealing with post abortion issues. We offer free pregnancy tests & limited obstetrical ultrasound, pregnancy options information, referrals for community services, post-abortion support groups, clothing assistance, spiritual guidance, and emotional support.

The mission of Inland Oasis is a volunteer-based organization that conducts and supports educational, social and health programming for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and allied communities on the Palouse, Southeastern Washington, and North Central Idaho.

• Rainbow Families: Potluck and game night for LGBTQ+ families and their allies.
• Lily Longlegs Emergency Fund: Fund to support individuals in need.
• Transgender Support Group: Support group for adults that identify as transgender, trans, or questioning.

Please come to our facility no later than one hour before closing, during our hours of operation. A volunteer will ask you some questions about your situation. In order to complete the required paperwork you must provide:

•Photo identification
•Proof of your current address (such as a utility bill).
•You will be asked the names, birth dates, and prior-year incomes of all individuals living in your household.

Food Pantry
The Meridian Food Bank was created to serve the people in our community who are facing the challenge of not having enough food for themselves and their families. In 2018, we distributed over one million pounds of food to help more than 19,500 households in need throughout the Treasure Valley.

Backpack Program
The Meridian Food Bank sponsors a backpack food program for the West Ada School District. Many students who receive reduced-price or free lunches come from situations where food is scarce, and they need extra food assistance. Our program gives qualifying students a backpack each Friday filled with enough food for six meals and two snacks to ensure that they have food to eat over the weekend. In 2018 we distributed over 19,000 backpacks.

2. Tell the 'live' operator (after the prompts) that you are seeking the LDS Bishop in your area.

Deseret Industries is a thrift shop/second hand store that has used low cost furniture, clothing, electrical items etc.

Job training programs are also available upon referral from an LDS Bishop.

SEICAA Housing is run out of this office. This program offers affordable housing, including housing for the elderly. All housing is rental. Housing is in Blackfoot and Pocatello. All housing is for low income tenants.
