LANDLORD AND TENANT INFORMATION
Tenant Rights and Responsibilities in federally-assisted housing
When you live in an apartment, you have both rights and responsibilities. Be sure you know what's expected of you - and what you can expect in return.

Landlord and Tenant Guidelines
Landlord-tenant laws are state laws, not federal, so unless you are in federally-assisted housing, HUD probably has no authority to act on your behalf (unless your complaint is regarding a violation of the Fair Housing Act, or failure to provide a lead-based paint brochure, as examples). However, the Idaho Office of the Attorney General has prepared a resource to assist you.

Safe Haven for Pets is a partnership between KHS and Safe Passage Violence Protection Center. This program offers a life-saving alternative for family violence victims and their companion animals. Safe Haven for Pets allows Safe Passage clients to place one or more pets into a foster program for a period of 24 hours and up to two weeks while they are in a shelter or temporary housing that will not allow them to keep their pets. Safe Haven for Pets eliminates the barrier for fleeing victims by allowing them to bring their pets with them to a safe shelter. For more information about Safe Haven for Pets call Safe Passage Violence Protection Center at 208-664-9303
KHS also partners with the American Red Cross and the Crisis Center to provide shelter and care for animals who are homeless due to major manmade/natural disasters, or for those needing temporary pet care due to mandatory treatment. KHS will house these animals until their owners return home.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, Christian organization that helps low and moderate income families build their own homes. Since 1976, Habitat has built over 500,000 homes in over 92 countries.
Habitat Volunteers from all walks of life and all faiths work together as partners with families who otherwise couldn’t afford their own homes. Each family will contribute a minimum of 250 hours per adult of “sweat equity” toward the construction of their home.
When the house is completed, the family assumes a mortgage just like all homeowners. In addition to the mortgage, each homeowner is responsible for the insurance, taxes, utilities, maintenance, and other standard expenses.
