Public mental health services fall into two major areas of effort: Community Crisis Response and Services to Adults with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) or children with a serious emotional disturbance.
COMMUNITY CRISIS RESPONSE SERVICES
First line intervention for adults experiencing mental health crisis. These crisis may be defined as psychiatric symptoms such as thoughts of self-harm or harming others. Each Welfare region in Idaho has a community health center and one or more satellite offices which provide 24 hour crisis response services such as hotlines, emergency face-to-face psychiatric evaluations, treatment referral services and consultations with law enforcement agencies, local hospitals, and other social service organizations as requested.
SEVERE AND PERSISTENT MENTAL ILLNESS
Services are targeted for individuals, at least 18 years of age, who suffer from the most severe and persistent forms of mental illness. The individual must have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorder, major affective disorder, delusional disorder or borderline personality disorder. This psychiatric disorder must be of sufficient severity to cause a disturbance in role performance or coping skills in at least two areas of functioning, on either a continuous or intermittent basis. SPMI services include screening and referral, assertive community treatment, crisis intervention, case management, psychiatric/medical service, short term outpatient therapy, individual and group psychosocial rehabilitation, consultation and education, and community supportive employment.
The Mental Health Program is administered by the Division of Behavior Health.

One Love Agency, is a locally owned company that has provided targeted care services for diverse population groups since 2012 (both East & West Idaho). Our expertise is in proven recovery, through individual, couples, family, and group therapy. We understand the specific needs and difficulties that can hinder treatment progress and strive to offer improved methods of delivery to ease the burden that can be felt by those suffering from poor mental health and addiction.
Case management is a collaborative process that assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the options and services required to meet the client's health and human service needs.
Community Based Rehabilitation Services (CBRS - formerly PSR) is a program in which participants learn specific skills that foster rehabilitation and recovery out in the community. CBRS offers a wide range of fun and challenging activities centered on promoting skill-building to adults recovering from a severe and persistent mental illness.
Peer Support Specialists-Adult use their lived recovery experience from a mental health diagnosis and specific specialist training to help you define your goals for recovery and develop a recovery plan. This service helps you learn to manage difficulties in your life.
Peer Support Specialists-Youth support helps you learn how to manage your treatment, makes sure that you know your rights and helps you speak for yourself. This service is provided by someone who also has lived experience of mental health issues as a child or youth, and specific specialist training to teach them how to work with youth. This can be done individually or in groups.
Targeted Care Coordination (TCC) includes the coordination and facilitation of the interdisciplinary Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings to develop an outcome-focused, strengths-based, Person-Centered Service Plan (PCSP) that includes both formal and informal services and supports. This Person Centered Plan incorporates the results of the Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment and CANS functional assessment and the input of the child, their family, and their team. The Plan includes the Member’s overall treatment goals and objectives, strengths, needs, a risk management plan, and a transition plan.
With this plan and coordination from the Targeted Care Coordinator, families can feel secure knowing they are on the right track to meet their goals. This plan and the coordination of all your services means everyone is on the same page with your personalized plan. TCC helps facilitate the level of care and treatment that every child and their family should receive.
Targeted Care Coordination (TCC, Idaho Falls) is offered to children and their families with counseling and enrollment in the YES Program.
