Idahoans with disabilities, their families and service providers.

The Idaho Assistive Technology Project (IATP) assists people with disabilities in obtaining the assistive technology they need to live more independent and productive lives. The IATP offers assessment services, information and referral, training, a low interest loan program, and recycling of used equipment.

The IATP maintains a statewide information and referral program that identifies agencies, support services, funding options, and other resources related to assistive technology. These resources are available to help persons with disabilities, their families, and service providers in the selection, acquisition, or use of assistive technology devices. Catalogs, informational fact sheets, and videos describing assistive technology devices and services are available at no charge.

Assistive Device Demonstration and Lending: Assistive technology demonstration and lending Centers are located across the state of Idaho. Each Center includes computer access demonstration stations for children and adults.

Assistive Technology Finance Program: The Idaho Assistive Technology Project facilitates a low interest loan program designed to help Idahoans finance assistive technology purchases. Any person with a disability, residing in Idaho, or any person acting on their behalf, may apply for a loan. This program is made possible through the combined efforts of KeyBank-N.A., Zions Bank, the Idaho Community Foundation, and the IATP.

Computer Distribution Program: The IATP continues it's collaboration with Computers for Kids, Inc. and the SDE: Division of Special Education to be able to offer computers to Idaho students with disabilities, grades K thru 12 who have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Equipment Exchange Program: The IATP operates a statewide used equipment exchange program through which devices can be found for receiving, repairing, and distributing quality used equipment to older persons and Idahoans with disabilities of all ages. This collaboration is known as the Idaho Assistive Technology Reutilization Project (IATRP). The IATRP offers a place to search for devices all in one place.

Information, Assistance, and Resources: The IATP maintains a statewide information and assistance program related to assistive technology. Handbooks, catalogs, informational fact sheets, and videos describing assistive technology devices and services are available at no charge to Idahoans.

Tools for Life Fair: Tools for Life Fairs are for students with disabilities and anyone who offers support as they transition from high school to college or work. The event includes presentations about secondary transition and assistive technology. Idaho Educators, Post Secondary Educators, therapists, counselors, service providers, job developers, and other rehabilitation specialists, and especially secondary students with disabilities and their families are encouraged to attend.

The Idaho State Independent Living Council (SILC) advocates for equal opportunity, equal access, self-determination, independence and choice for people with disabilities. The focus of the SILC is to maximize opportunity and to incorporate people with disabilities into all walks of life by empowering them. The Idaho SILC provides leadership development opportunities to empower grassroots advocates, who, in turn, will develop systemic changes in public policy to positively impact people with disabilities.

The goals of the NFB are to ensure opportunity, security and equality for all blind citizens. The purpose of the National Federation of the Blind is two-fold-to help blind persons achieve self-confidence and self-respect and to act as a vehicle for collective self-expression by the blind.

Members of the NFB strive to educate the public that the blind are normal individuals who can compete on terms of equality with our sighted peers. The NFB has created a wide array of services to blind and visually impaired persons of all ages. We provide public education about blindness, information and referral services, scholarships, literature and publications about blindness, aids and appliances and other adaptive equipment for the blind. In addition, we also assist with advocacy services and protection of civil rights, have created Job Opportunities for the Blind and Newsline for the Blind (newspaper by telephone), and we are actively developing and evaluating technology, and support for blind persons and their families.

The NFB of Idaho awards scholarships each year, during the NFB of Idaho State Convention held in early spring, to blind students enrolling in college.

The Council serves as an advocate for all Idahoans who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The Council provides direct services and is involved in public and private sector programs and policies as they relate to persons with hearing impairments. The Council's goal is to improve the quality of life for Idahoans who are deaf or hard of hearing by providing services such as newsletters, brochures, workshops on communication access, information and referral, advocacy, assistive device demonstration centers and workshops, and by coordinating and advocating for increases in services and access to services provided by other agencies. The Council serves as a resource for other state agencies regarding the needs of persons with hearing impairments and how to meet those needs.

The Council provides demonstration and loan of assistive devices for people who are deaf or hard of hearing through demonstration centers throughout Idaho. There are 7 centers located in Moscow, Boise, Twin Falls, Idaho State University, Caldwell, Coeur D'Alene and Idaho Falls. The Council has a small grant program administered by United Cerebral Palsy to help people purchase assistive devices. Application can be made at the demonstration and loan centers.

Agency is not clinical and does not provide evaluations, diagnoses, counseling, medication management, IBI or PSR services.

Agency provides support, information and training for parents of children with mental health diagnoses. Help with navigating systems such as Health and Welfare, Juvenile Justice and Education. IPUL is the statewide parent training and information center for Idaho families of children with disabilities.
