Public Transportation provider for the greater Pocatello and Chubbuck area. PRT also provides services for the seven Counties in Southeastern Idaho. (Bannock, Bear Lake, Bingham, Caribou, Franklin, Oneida and Power).

Benewah Area Transit (BAT) offers curb to curb, demand response transportation service in the St. Maries area. BAT provides services to the general public for shopping, medical appointments, socialization and recreational activities within 7 miles of the of St. Maries city limits. BAT also provides Medicaid approved transportation to St. Maries, Coeur d’ Alene, Post Falls, and Hayden, ID from outlying areas such as Fernwood, Santa, Emida and Plummer, Idaho. Requests to and from other areas may be considered. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday (except holidays). Medicaid transportation must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance by calling Medicaid’s Brokerage Company (VEYO) at1-877-503-1261.

Below are some examples of typical passenger requirements. These are not all inclusive and may vary by organization.

• Being medically stable
• Not requiring medical care during the flight
• Ability to enter and exit a small aircraft with minimal assistance (in some cases this means climbing steps or onto the wing of an aircraft)
• Ability to sit upright in a seat with seat belt fastened for the entire flight
• A verifiable medical need or other compelling need for travel. Most VPOs will request a medical release from the patient’s physician.
• A financial need or other compelling circumstances. This will be determined by the organization, often on a case-by-case basis.

Provided free air transportation for medical and humanitarian purposes.

Patient under the age of 18 can be accompanied by up to 2 parents or legal guardians, patient age 18 may be accompanied by 1 medically-necessary caregiver, be able to board and exit the aircraft and sit upright in seat or wheelchair, not on any life support systems, meet airline approved portable oxygen criteria, going to or from recognized treatment center, have self arranged ground transportation, self pay baggage fees, and meet income guidelines. Qualifying applicants may receive assistance as often as needed.

Children and adults with serious medical conditions.

Provides free, non-emergency air travel for children and adults with serious medical conditions and other compelling needs. Services are available throughout the 13 western states, including Alaska and Hawaii.

Provides rides to and from cancer-related medical appointments for patients who otherwise might not be able to get there. Based on eligibility and availability, individuals are matched with volunteer drivers, transportation providers working with the American Cancer Society, or other local resources.

Provides complimentary, roundtrip tickets to nonprofit hospitals and medical transportation organizations to distribute the tickets to patients and/or caregivers. The grant program partners with nonprofit hospitals and organizations. Each hospital has its own guidelines for administration of these tickets.

Varies by state

Provides the non-emergency medical transportation needs to medical providers that serve Utah Medicaid members who have no other way to get a ride, and who may need a single trip or regularly reoccurring (standing order trips) non-emergency medical transport.
