Idaho Volunteer Lawyers Program assists eligible low-income persons with the following case-types: custody & visitation, divorce (limited), guardianship, adoption, debt defense or limited consumer issues, assistance for non-profit organizations, and wills & probate (non-property matters only). The IVLP attorneys represent clients in certain high-priority cases or provide assistance to applicants through clinics or legal consultations in representing themselves in court proceedings involving the custody of children. Volunteer attorneys give advice and consultation in Family Law, debt collection, and certain matters for non-profit organizations.
Advice and Consultation Clinics are conducted at Senior Centers in Boise, Meridian, Mountain Home, Pocatello, and Idaho Falls and Legal Link in Coeur dAlene on any legal topic.
Through Soundstart, IVLP volunteer attorneys will give legal information to low-income, single parents on legal structures that would offer stability and safety to new families. The project will also motivate these new parents to obtain court orders for custody, modification, and child support by offering the services of IVLP volunteer attorneys or Pro Se Clinics.

Free Family Law Clinic - Boise Area

The Idaho Volunteer Lawyers Program (IVLP) holds monthly pro se (do it yourself) family law clinics at the Law Center located at 525 W. Jefferson in downtown Boise. Volunteer attorneys and paralegals are available to help low-income parents in the Boise area complete the free, online Court Assistance Office forms involving Family Law Matters. This is an opportunity for our customers to talk to attorneys and paralegals free of charge!

To participate in the clinic, IVLP staff first screen individuals over the phone to determine income eligibility. Once IVLP determines the individual is income- eligible, the individual is required to complete an application. Once the customer is screened and approved for participation, they are informed of the available dates of the clinic and registered to attend.

The Family and Community Services Developmental Disabilities program, plans coordinates ad oversees community services to children with developmental disabilities through regional developmental disabilities programs. For children with developmental disabilities who are Medicaid eligible, the program administers Children's Service Coordination and Intensive Behavioral Intervention. Direct services are delivered by Medicaid funded private agencies. Additionally, the program administers the Developmental Disabilities Family Support program and Court Related Service program for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Board of Community Guardians was created to deal with complicated issues of guardianship for those residents of Kootenai County who have no relative or significant other interested in becoming their guardian when they have legally been deemed incompetent. This board functions as the guardian of last resort.
