Funding Challenges
Families may face financial challenges that can be overwhelming as they
support and care for their child with special health care needs. Some costs come
from not having affordable access to health insurance, while others can come from
out-of-pocket costs such as the co-payments, therapies, specialized equipment,
respite, and adaptations to the home, just to name a few. There are financial
assistance programs available throughout the community, state, and nation. These
programs each have their own eligibility requirements that could be based on income,
diagnosis, age, location or other specific requirements.

identify and explain financial assistance resources for the care of children with
special needs and their families.
